- Tips that will make it more comfortable to have a beard so that you can grow it to whatever length you want.
- Tips that will help you get the beard look or beard shape that you desire.
Throughout my beard life I've had many different sizes, lengths, and shapes of beards. To be honest, I like having a beard because it makes me look like I have more of a chin then I do. See, I’m probably just like a lot of you, having a beard helps give me more confidence and like the way I look.
Over my 10 years of having a beard I've learned a thing or two about how to make my whiskers do what I want. I haven't known all these things forever and it certainly has been a journey, just like everything in life, a set of trial and errors. After this life full of trials and tribulations, mistakes and failures, now I have more frequent successes and at this point I'm pretty confident in my ability to get my beard to do what I want it too. I'm ready to share some of these things with you and so I'm going to give you basically everything I've ever figured out. Before I go on, I’ll give you the easiest tip, click here to get some BEARD MOUNTAIN product. Now, most of these things that work I did not figure out on my own, they came from other people, other beardsmen who bearded before me. Because they helped me out so much I feel that it's part of my duty to the community of bearded gentlemen all over the world to share what I've learned. I want to help people get whatever length and shape of beard they really want to have. I’m confident that with this advice you can be a super happy and confident beardsman too.
I'm going to break this down into the different behaviors and things you can do to make your beard life easier. Some of these things are going to make the rest of your life easier and better because when your life is better it rubs off on those around you. The people you are around, the people that you love and care about, your friends and family, are going to have a better life too. I know it sounds corny but it's true. Like I said before, the easiest thing you can do to make bearding easier and get your whiskers to do what you want is to use Beard Mountain products as part of your daily grooming. Beard Mountain Potion, the oil, has lots of benefits but a couple important one are that it stops the itch by conditioning and nourishing your skin and making your beard whiskers softer. Beard Mountain Polish, the balm, is THE ABSOLUTE KEY to consistently shaping your beard. The Beard Mountain Mustache Tranquilizer is the wax that can give you an eight inch handlebar mustache. These products are the beardsmen cheat codes. They are the the up up down down a b a b Left Right select start way , (a quick reference to Contra, one of the first awesome Nintendo games I grew up playing, for those of you who are too young to know that reference), of looking good and feeling good without spending a ton of time and effort on your beard.
Now to my other tips.
First tip - Washing and conditioning your beard by taking a hot shower, (yes we have those products HERE) before you style your beard is just going to make your beard and mustache whiskers softer, more malleable and easier to shape into the look you want. You would think this is obvious but just in case I had to say it.
Second tip - Go to a barber shop and get your beard washed, trimmed, shaped, and groomed by a barber every couple of months. This too seems obvious now but I didn’t know it before. No one told me I should go to a barber so how was I supposed to? It wasn’t until I had a hot date that I thought, “Hey, I’ll go to a barber and let him make me look good and ready”. I figured he could do it better then I could and I was right. Two things happened. Number one, he did a great job trimming and shaping, way better than I ever had. Two I learned what he did to trim and shape and that showed me new techniques to use to upkeep that I didn’t know before. This has been super valuable and I wish I had gone to the barber a lot sooner. If you haven’t done this, I highly recommend it.
Third Tip - Use the right tools, and if you don’t have the right tools then get them. What are the right tools? Well, we have some of them right here, the Beard Mountain beard brush, beard comb and trimmer scissors. Are there other tools that make grooming and shaping easier? Absolutely, and when you go to your barber, you will find that they use multiple different tools and you will start to learn how to use them. Just so you don’t have to wait, I’ll tell you here what they are. A large set of clippers with a set of guides that allow for the length to be set and a small set of clippers that are easy to get into the angles needed to do trimming that the large ones won’t fit into. Now before you freak out, I get it, these tools can be the enemy of growing out a long beard because they are the tools used to shave over the whole thing… but you won’t do that because you are going to use the oil from the Beard Mountain Potion collection to keep your skin, whiskers and face nice and comfortable. However, I will warn you that using an electric trimmer is dangerous to your shape if you do not have a steady hand. I’ve grown up using hand tools and power tools all my life so because of that, using tools like an electric trimmer comes rather naturally. I would recommend that if you do not have experience doing things that require a high level of manual dexterity that you DO NOT try trimming your own beard using an electric trimmer of any kind. Stick to the scissors that we sell.
Forth tip - Follow the instructions that are published in the product descriptions or go to the Beard Mountain YouTube channel to see how we use each of the beard mountain products. Also make sure you check out the blog post that will be coming soon about why to use the product all together and why there is a specific order to using them. If you would like to sample all the main products go to our Sample Kit Collection page.
That is what I have to share with you for now. I hope this helps and if you have any more tips or if you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment or go to the Beard Mountain Facebook Group and comment there.
For now get out there, crush your dreams and keep on bearding!
